OSWEGO, NY – A longtime veteran and multi-time feature winner in Oswego Speedway’s Pathfinder Bank SBS division will return to racing at the Evans Mills Speedway this Sunday as part of the brand new Lighthouse Lanes Small Block Supermodified Series.
Jay Andrews, who ‘retired’ after the 2015 season at Oswego following a four year stint with Team Tapout Racing’s Jason Simmons, has found himself a ride for this Sunday, June 18th’s inaugural Lighthouse Lanes SBS Series show behind the wheel of a familiar Hedger Chassis, driving former teammate Barry Kingsley’s No. 91 machine.
“I’m happy to be coming back for a spin at the Mills,” Andrews commented. “We had a lot of fun racing there years ago. Even got a couple wins.”
Andrews is fifth in all-time points at Oswego and has four wins in the SBS class at the Steel Palace, one of which came back on Opening Day of 2012, his first ever showing with Simmons. Andrews is happy to be getting back behind the wheel thanks to Kingsley, as both drivers simply want to continue to support the class they have been quite successful in and continue to see it grow.
“Barry really wanted to support the series, and I agree. I still love this division and the guys in it as much as when I did it every week,” Andrews noted. When it got to me, I jumped at the chance. Should be a lot of fun rubbing wheels with the boys.”
Expected to join Andrews on Sunday afternoon are fellow returning drivers Tim Proud, Steve Woods, Ron Pratt, Vern LaFave, and more.
Several familiar names will also take part in the action including Oswego regulars Dalton Doyle, Rob Pullen, James Babcock, Cameron Rowe, Mark Castiglia, Mike Bruce, Cameron Black, Jesse Bearup, and Greg O’Connor.
Pit gates will open at 2:30pm this Sunday at the Evans Mills Speedway with grandstand gates opening at 3:30pm for the start of practice. Racing will begin at 5pm. General admission tickets are just $10 and can be purchased at the track. Kids 15 and under are FREE at the Evans Mills Speedway. Pit passes are $25.
